Golden Grove provides agistment for mares & foals, weanlings, yearlings and spelling racehorses. Walk in facilities are also catered for, being centrally located in the Hunter Valley, we are very close to all commercial studs. Your valued thoroughbreds are welcome as either Permanent residents or Seasonal visitors.

Post and railed paddocks, 24 hour surveillance for close to foaling mares and veterinary assistance only minutes away make our foaling facilities top class. The combination of our safe amenities, experienced team and the renowned Hunter Valley pastures guarantee the best possible start for your mare and foal.

Weaning usually commmences from 6 to 7 months of age. Our process involves co-operative and educational techniques to gradually introduce the foal to leading and the physical touch of humans prior to disparture from the mare. They then in turn become well educated and commercially sustainable bloodstock for the owner, trainer or buyer. Stress levels are kept to a minimum with our gradual weaning process covering a two to three week period.

Weanlings become well educated, responsive to their handlers, athletic and contented, and respond well to further yearling preparation. Successful and appropriate treatment of horses at the weaning stage is imperative to results in the sale ring. We offer preparation for both weanlings and yearlings to all major sales venues on the East coast of Australia.
